We are very proud to announce that we have been awarded Accredited status by the Arts Council England. This award demonstrates that the museum has achieved clearly defined national standards relating to how we are governed and managed, our visitor services and facilities, and collections management.
Accreditation is the culmination of years of work by our volunteers to bring the museum up to professional standards, and to ensure that we provide experiences for our visitors that are both enjoyable and educational.
The Management Committee would like to thank all our supporters and Volunteers who have helped us to achieve this award.
If you have an interest in tinkering with technology then the Swindon Hackspace is the place for you! Come along and meet like-minded people, share equipment, tools, knowledge and ideas and build cool stuff!
There’s lots happening including electronics, microcontrollers, computers, robotics, programming, and electronic art. Some of the projects we have worked on include interfacing Twitter to a 1950's teletype, programming Arduino and Picaxe microcontroller boards, Android and iPhone programming, Raspberry Pi, low cost mobile robots and robot arms, 3D printers, laser cutters and even sending Ping Pong ball experiments into space!
If you are a complete beginner, no problem, come along and learn some skills including soldering, programming and using electronic test equipment. There is free tea and coffee and a great informal atmosphere. We meet Wednesday evenings at the Museum of Computing, 18:30 to 21:30, the cost is £4 per session (there is an annual membership fee of £10 but this is only payable after attending two sessions).
